Seasons Change

I had been saving this kimono for a special shoot where the combination of it's velvet, sheer and tiny beads could be captured beautifully. Paulina from Mint and Chillies Photography did an excellent job, don't you think?

I wore my kimono with a floaty top that I bought from Zara when I was visiting Barcelona in July. I don't own many plain tops, but I love the chic double-layer cut of this one and the way it swishes as I walk! My lace shorts add more texture to many of my outfits, and I think it contrasts well with the velvet and sheer kimono. This is definitely one of my favourite looks for the transition between Summer and Autumn.

Birthday Jumpsuit part 2

Click on the links to check out my new purchases:
Jumpsuit - TFNC
Sandals - Topshop
Bracelets - Mulberry & Forever 21

After wearing my elephant print jumpsuit on my birthday, the following night I went with out with friends for drinks and some dancing in a lace panelled jumpsuit. This was the first piece I got from TFNC after becoming a concession manager for the brand.  I feel so good in it and it makes a change from wearing a dress like most days and nights out.

I also love that I avoided getting sore feet by wearing my new wedged sandals. They will be my go-to shoes all through summer...as long as the sun comes out enough in Scotland!

Fashion Fling Look no.2

Clutch - Ted Baker
Jacket - H&M
Jeans - Topshop
Top - H&M
Necklace - a gift

Today's look I think proves that workwear doesn't have to be boring! Obviously depending on your job, you may have restrictions but I think if it's chic and sleek then you're on the right track. My oriental jacket is both on trend and smart enough for work. The ribbon tied around my waist and slight padding in the shoulders gives my body the perfect definition. I also love the silky feeling of the material. As the jacket and clutch are so bold, I have toned the rest of the outfit down with a pale mint top and black skinny jeans. You don't want to look too in your face at work! The best bit about my outfit is that I don't have to change if I'm meeting friends for drinks after work. I do love a versatile outfit!

Look out for my next post where I'm taking my Ted Baker clutch on a night out!

Love for Leather

Dungaree dress - Miss Selfridge
Paisley jumper - Topman
Shoes and hat - Topshop

This dungaree dress is my absolute favourite piece in my wardrobe right now. I love wearing it over different clothes each time - a bodycon polo neck dress; a floral t-shirt with rolled up sleeves; a buttoned up blouse...the choices are endless!

Yesterday I had another styling session, this time located at The Thirdman cafe (in central Edinburgh) which not only offered the most delicious slices of rocky road, but also the perfect backdrop for our shoot. I loved the wallpaper there which you can see below.

The theme of the shoot was leather, as it is now becoming a wardrobe staple on the same level as our trusty denim pieces. In my opinion, leather is the best investment in fashion you can make as it lasts a lifetime. My Topshop Boutique leather jacket was expensive to buy but when I think about costs per wear, it's been completely worth the price tag. If you're not so convinced then vintage leather jackets can be a cheaper alternative. Other leather pieces you might want to try are shorts, skirts and dresses. Iris & Ink on TheOutnet.com do some beautiful pieces which feel buttery.

Next week's shoot will be for Scotland on Sunday and sounds very glamorous as it's inspired by Elizabeth Taylor!

Club Tropicana

When styling for the Club Tropicana shoot in today's Edinburgh Evening News, there were so many amazing outfits, so I ended up modelling to add a couple of extra looks. This was the ideal shoot for me as it reflected my personal style of floral prints and bright colours. I certainly won't be giving up my day job to model, even though it's a lot of fun. Styling is definitely my stronger asset!

I am also excited to see the results from the last shoot I styled, which will be in the Evening News (and on my blog) in two weeks. It had a Vintage Americana theme and involved some Prada handbags, exquisite necklaces and pretty  bralets.

Another feature you can look forward to reading next month, is my visit to The Scottish Fashion Awards. This year it will be hosted by Alexa Chung and I'll be at the red carpet to photograph and interview Scotland's finest talent.

There's lots to look forward to, but until then I hope you like the photos and have a good week (finally, the sun is out!)

Topshop Styling

Wow! Scrolling through Topshop's website is a fashion feast for my eyes right now! I don't think I've ever wanted so many items from one shop before. I'm mostly drawn to the acid brights and oriental pieces. There were too many garments to show you but these are some outfits I think work well together.

Boutique blue silk skirt £90, Boutique poppy print sleeveless tee £28 , Pink suede high vamp wedges £70

Green sleeveless shell top £28.50, Floral print capri jeans £40, Pink bow headband £7

Black crop jacket £55, Boutique silk chinese print trousers £90, Premium platform sandals £90
Which of these would you wear? Has anyone else noticed how amazing Topshop is at the moment?

I Heart Looklet.com!

Move over Lookbook, I have a new styling website obsession: Looklet.com. Rather than dressing myself up and striking a pose, I now have access to styling beautiful models with a wardrobe that Carrie Bradshaw would envy!
This seriously addictive website lets you select a model, background, lighting effects and most importantly, an outfit created from the huge range of designer, high-street and vintage clothing. The clothing is continually added to, with items that are available to purchase this season. So if you fancied, you could buy the outfit you styled.
It is interesting to see the total number of "hearts" I get from different users around the world, which indicates the popularity of a look. You can also follow different stylists that you like and compete for the website's Look of the Day.
I have so far created six diverse looks and it will be interesting to see if the practice will improve my styling ability. Watch out Grace Woodward!
Here are some of my looks so far:
