Edinburgh fashion blogger

Last Friday I was invited to the first anniversary of Mademoiselle Macaron, along with many other Edinburgh based bloggers. The gorgeous little boutique has a Parisian look inside and the window displays are beautiful too. I would totally recommend popping in to try their tasty macarons that come in various flavours. We were able to try some unusual flavours such as Hendrick's gin and chai tea. I even ate a macaron that looked like a burger which was so cute!

As for my outfit, I had many compliments on my new aztec jacket. You may remember it from a previous festival inspiration post. Well, my flatmate was very clever and bought the jacket I had featured on my blog for my birthday! I love wearing cropped jackets in the summer and red is one of my favourite colours to wear. Since the aztec pattern is so striking, I kept the rest of the outfit simple with a white vest top and skinny cigarette jeans.

I'm off to a blogger event tonight to celebrate the new exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland called 'Fully Fashioned: The Pringle of Scotland Story.' You can look out for that in my next post!

Bloggers Love DUO

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to a blogging event at DUO. If you haven't heard of the company before, they are a women's footwear brand that specialise in boots that are made to measure. They offer up to 21 calf sizes for knee-high and over-the-knee boots, as well as three different widths of shoes. This means you are bound to find the perfect fitting boots.

The shop on Castle street is incredibly beautiful. I wish I could fill my home with their amazing floral wallpaper and giant vintage-looking framed mirrors. The super stylish boots of course were the main talking point of the night. We were all treated to a pair of our choice from their new Autumn/Winter range - so kind! I don't think any of us found it easy to decide on a pair as there were just so many that we liked! Even when I finally made my decision, I didn't know whether to go for black or grey! In the end I opted for a lovely pair of black suede ankle boots called Abel.

What do you think of my choice? They fit really well and I think they will look really good with a lot of my outfits. Thank you DUO! I am still lusting after other styles, especially when I see which boots my blogger friends picked! Below is a selection of my other favourites, which you can find on their website and in Edinburgh, Bath and London stores.

Edinburgh Blogger Styles

Last week I attended a lovely photoshoot, organised by Farah of Faz Fashion Diary, to show you all how some of us Edinburgh bloggers like to dress. It may have been pouring with rain (as you can see through the window) but that didn't stop us from wearing our fun and colourful summer outfits!

I enjoyed discovering the two locations and I definitely need to return to try some of their tasty food on offer. Curious Tearooms on Fredrick street is themed around Alice in Wonderland, so the decor is very quirky. Enzo bar on Lister square is more modern and chic. Both venues reflected our own styles very well!

Here is a selection of my favourite pictures from the day, taken by Malone Masina. I always have a fun time when I'm with bloggers from my city, and hopefully there will be more shoots we can do together in the future.

Godiva's Blogger Party

Godiva boutique Edinburgh

On Wednesday evening, I was lucky enough to attend a lovely blogger event held at Godiva boutique on Edinburgh's Grassmarket. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful and unique shop in my hometown. There has been so much thought put into the decor, plus they stock the most amazing hand-made clothing and jewellery.

Upon arrival, we were treated to glasses of Pimms, brownies made by Lovecrumbs and truffles made by Mary's Milk Bar. They were absolute heaven for a chocolate addict like me! We then spent a while catching up with old blogger friends and making new ones too! I love that Edinburgh is starting to build up a blogging community since more events are being held in our city. It's so much fun being a part of it.

The activities for the night included making camera straps out of pretty vintage scarfs, and adding little charms. My camera has never looked so stylish! Also, Scottish jewellery designers Luis and Poppy from Runaway Fox talked us through their fascinating collections. Their current jewellery collection is made from castings of human body parts and dead animals. To show us the process, they got three bloggers to cast their fingers which were then turned into necklaces.  It was amazing that you could even see the detail of their finger prints. Talk about a one-off piece of jewellery!

It was such a great night thanks to Godiva, and the Scottish brands that contributed. To top it all off, we each received a Godiva canvas bag filled with treats from some of the boutique's designers. Mine included a necklace from Runaway Fox's 'Flora Fatale' collection, a wasp brooch by Karen Mabon and a set of cards illustrated by Genevieve Ryan.

For those of you living outside of Scotland, you can still shop the brilliant independent designer pieces on Godiva's website here.

Scottish Bloggers Party

Some of the lovely bloggers getting to know each other

My lovely 'Cherry Oh My' cocktail and the speed dating questions

On Saturday night I attended my first blogging event in Edinburgh, which was held at a stylish bar called Hemma, on Hollyrood road. The party had a valentines theme and involved a speed dating setup where we had a few minutes to speak to each person. We also had a list of questions so we could ask one question to each person (mostly beauty and fashion related) which was an easy and fun way to get to know everyone.

There was also a raffle to raise money for a brilliant local charity called Shakti Women's Aid. We raised £88 which is great as it's such a worthy cause. I was lucky enough to win the prize I wanted most which was a Lashes for London voucher worth £100! I will be showing you what I picked on my next blog post so watch out for that.

I would like to thank Gillian, Jenn, Lianne and Juliet for organising such an enjoyable evening which I could tell involved a lot of planning - from contacting the sponsors to the cute table decorations. You all did an amazing job. It was also a great turnout with at least 20 bloggers coming from different parts of Scotland. I am now going to check out all of their blogs as I had only followed a couple of them prior to the event. What a lovely bunch of bloggers they all are, and I hope to see them again next time.
