Primark Future Purchases

If you haven't already seen the latest blogger buzz about Primark's Spring 2011 lookbook, it's about time you did! The affordable store is REALLY upping it's game by focusing more on trends and looking more quirky cute. There is a little bit of Alexa Chung in there with the school girl look and silk shirt dress, and a bit of Carey Mulligan with the fifties influenced dresses (remember her Prada beach print dress?) I really hope that the quality has improved as much as the styles. I also pray that the Primark store in Edinburgh will hurry up and open. There are too many items I desperately need in my life...

London Visit

It's been a year and 4 months since I moved away from London and since then I have visited my friends there five times. Every time I go down, I fit in seeing as many close friends as possible in one weekend and do the most fun things like London Fashion Weekend, a Lady Gaga concert, a party held by Jaques cider, a party in a barber shop and my favourite clubs such as Cafe de Paris. A lot of my most exciting memories belong in London and if I get a good job down there I'd like to move back. It may sound cheesy but I feel really lucky to have such great friends there, even though I now only see them every couple of months. So although this post is not entirely fashion related, I couldn't resist sharing these photos on my blog.

Rodarte in Lula & Black Swan

Rodarte is fast becoming one of my favourite designer labels so I think it's fantastic that this month, the designer duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy have guest edited Lula magazine. They include interviews with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Vivienne Westwood and Elle Fanning which make very interesting reads. My favourite article however, was "White Dress" where Kate and Laura explain why white dresses are so special to them. They say that "It's the dreamy, sleepwalky feel that so easily intermingles with the magical and paranormal." References include Narnia's White Witch and Cecelia's dress in "The Virgin Suicides" (the white dress that first came to my mind.) If you haven't discovered Lula yet, you must track it down! I have mine delivered from Newsstand.co.uk.

As previously posted, Rodarte have also designed a total of 40 costumes for the thriller film "Black Swan" which came out last weekend in the America and will be released in the UK on 21st January. I cannot wait to see this film and I'm planning to watch it on the first day it comes out! 

If I ever happen to win the lottery, one of my first purchases would be a beautiful draped chiffon Rodarte dress. Just look at the mixing of vibrant colours.

Style in the Snow

I hope all my readers in the UK are enjoying the snow, there's a lot of it in Edinburgh as you can see. It's really helping me get into the festive spirit. Yesterday I cranked up my family's christmas tunes and sang along to Wizzard, Band Aid, Slade and Shakin' Stevens! Then I curled up in my knitwear beside the fire and read my new issue of Lula.
