The Sixties Edit

The 1960's has always been my favourite era for fashion. From mini skirts to a-line dresses, this was the decade when women were given freedom to dress with fun and flirty styles, thanks to designers such as Mary Quant. I love it when catwalk looks are inspired by the iconic sixties designs, and this year is no exception. Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent all referenced the era in their Autumn/Winter 2014 collections. I can't wait to see the high-street versions for next season, and in the meantime there are plenty sixties inspired pieces to snap up this summer.

Birthday Jumpsuit part 1

Jumpsuit - New Look
Sandals - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop

The first of May marked my 27th birthday (eek!) and I had a lot of fun celebrating for three days! What makes a birthday even more special is when you wear a fab new outfit! I bought this lovely jumpsuit while visiting Leeds and love the elephant print so much. I accessorised it with a studded belt (which came with the jumpsuit) and my favourite statement necklace to add a bit of edge. I also borrowed my mum's bracelet and ring that she got from South Africa which was perfect for the tribal look!

I decided to wear a more dressy jumpsuit the following night for my birthday night out, which you'll see on my next post.

Fashion Fling Look no.3

Clutch bag - Ted Baker c/o McArthurGlen
Sequin crop top - Topshop
Slip dress - Topshop
Wedges - New Look
Necklace - H&M
Gold cuff - Maybury

The final look I have centred around my lovely new clutch bag is styled for a night out. I'm thinking a posh cocktail bar or maybe an after-party hosted by some of fashion's finest! My fashion tip for today is to layer clothes in a way that will make your outfit truly unique. I love adding to a dress by wearing either a crop top over it or a shirt underneath, and I've even worn a dress on top of a dress! Just make sure they work well together in terms of colour and proportions. You can't see so well in this picture, but my crop top is made up of tiny multi-coloured sequins which compliment the colour of my pink dress. I also like wearing it with a black and white striped top for a slightly more casual look.

Next week I will be styling a pair of Rayban aviators in three very different ways. Remember also that it will be the last week you can get special offers and join in with the exciting events at McArthurGlen shopping outlets. Click here to find out what Livingstone's outlet has to offer.

Outfit du jour

Coat - ASOS
Handbag - Warehouse
Heels - New Look
Watch - ASOS

This is a completely new outfit of mine, which makes me feel very sixties chic! On days where I want to feel sophisticated this will now be my go-to coat and bag. My new handbag is so roomy, it rivals Mary Poppins's (had to mention her on my blog at some point!) I love that my mac looks so different to the average mac, with it's touches of boucle. I just had to show you all three angles!

I hope you are all having a good weekend. It's nice to have a Saturday off which isn't very common for a retail worker like me!

Wishing for a Bright New Start

Printed scarf - H&M
Pleated skirt - Mad Elizabeth
Envelope bag - Topshop
Heart hole belt - Topshop

As you can see, I am already fully embracing the bright colours of the Spring/Summer season. I have recently bought an emerald green dress from Zara and I can't get enough of this scarf which has printed butterflies blown up to a huge size and a beautiful array of colours. I also really love the pleated skirt trend right now and I'm wishing for a sheer midi one, which I spotted a girl wearing recently in London.

Are you experimenting with Spring/Summer trends yet? Or are you just starting your wishlist?

New Look

Pink jumper by New Look
Bird print sheer shirt by New Look
Grey jeggings by Wallis
Pink hairband by New Look
Pink pom-pom hair clip by Orelia
Necklaces & bracelet both gifts

I have been shopping rather a lot lately, and cramming my little wardrobe with  many beautiful things! Yesterday I went to Glasgow with my best friend Katz, and discovered loads of vintage shops in the West end. However, we didn't find anything we wanted to buy (except a dreamy fur coat which I love but sadly don't have room for!) so we hit the high-street. That's when I tried on the jumper and shirt as you can see above. I just had to buy them AND wear them together - even better! They're also pretty good transitional pieces which I can wear as the season takes me from Winter to Spring. Perfect!
